[ Techiman, Ghana ]

Note to Self: Ghana is too big to cross Transglobalist-style in only thirty days. My solution is to do multi-day, small-trail segments followed by small town-to-town hops using public transport (small vans crammed full of folks, but cheap).

I was stuck in Sunyani for too many days, forced to wait until the first of the month when my glorious Patreon supporters give me my necessary shot in the arm. For that reason I hopped a van from Sunyani to Techiman yesterday—and took today to plan out my final nine days in-country. I have a long way to go and not much time to get there, so cross your fingers.

As far as Techiman goes, I dig it. It’s bigger than Sunyani by a long shot, though my old paper map indicates otherwise. I spent the day around my room at the Dymns Hotel, and enjoyed wandering the industrial area around me. This area of town reminds me of of my chaotically zoned hometown, Houston, Texas: hotel next to church next to grain elevators next to carpentry shops, schools, and government buildings.

Tomorrow morning I’ll local transport for about 30 kilometers to the place where I intend to take small trails for the next five days—riding through hilly forest towards Lake Volta.
