Ramble I (Manali-Leh)

Dharamshala ]

Welcome to North India, Transglobalistas!

This time around I’m in Ladakh to do the Manali-Leh-Srinagar-Dharamshala-Manali loop on a Royal Enfield. It’s one of the classic Himalayan rides, and my first time here on an Enfield, a Bullet 350cc, though it feels like a much larger bike.

The route is incredible–and every day I struggle to believe I did this three years ago on a loaded bicycle, with only my scrawny legs for an engine.

[I’ve been in India for two weeks today, and though I’ve had these photos edited and ready to go for over a week, I’ve been in places without internet access and unable to upload. In Kashmir, for example, the recent police and army violence against civilian locals was accompanied by a State-sanctioned internet shutdown. Those three days were fascinating, enlightening, and worthy of a much longer story sometime down the road; maybe in The Book™.]

For now, enjoy the pics, have a great day, and stay tuned for more Indian beauty and excitement.
