As promised elsewhere, I spent a fortnight or so this past October exploring Turkey by foot and wing. The extended details of this excursion will follow eventually, but–in the meantime–please enjoy these images of flight, fun, sun, rain, clouds, friends and the gorgeous Mediterranean coast. Istanbul also makes a brief appearance or two. The reason for my trip? The 13th annual Ölüdeniz Air Games.
Video editing is one thing, piloting quite another. All responsibility for poorly performed loops, SATs, wingovers, helis, and assorted takeoffs and landings is mine.
Mea culpa.
One abortive takeoff, however–and two subsequent hours spent rain-soaked, cold, and huddling in the back of a transport van–can be blamed on some guy named Cody Mittanck. That Bastard!
Not one to waste a trip to parts unknown, I also spent a handful of days in Istanbul. From that part of my trip, I would like to thank my host Serkan Gürsoy for being such an awesome guide, and for taking time to show me sides of the city that very few tourists have an opportunity to see. If you’re ever heading towards Istanbul, I highly recommend booking a room with Serkan via Airbnb.com. See his listing here:
And that’s about it for now. I’ll see you out on the road!
Sincerely,
