[ Techiman, Ghana ]
Just popping in to acknowledge something special: today is my mom’s ninetieth birthday. She was born in 1929 in Gulf, Texas, and is still as strong (and stubborn) as an ox.
I was unable to return home as planned, but thanks to a dear neighborhood friend I was able to video chat with mom this morning–the first time I’ve seen her since I left the USA in December 2017.
During our conversation I walked her around the grounds of the small hotel where I’ve been staying and introduced her to some of the locals–each of whom took a brief moment to congratulate her one-on-one. It felt like I got to bring my mom to Ghana for a few minutes, and share Africa with her!
Happy Birthday, Ma, and Many Happy Returns!
