Getting to The Gambia

[ Serrekunda, The Gambia ]

Greetings one and all, and Ramadan Kareem!

I’m writing you from Serrekunda, The Gambia, where I’ll be staying a few more days until I can pick up my visa for Guinea-Bissau.

The trip here was fantastic, and long overdue after more than three weeks in Dakar. I made it in four eventful days, including a completely random, small-world roadside meet-up, two village homestays, several near-death experiences in highway traffic, a border post shakedown, and two ferry rides.

I have more stories than photographs, but in honor of Ramadan–which began today–I wanted to share what I have and check in with everyone.

As-salaam alaikum,
—jim
