Bhojpur Solo IV (Kot)

Kot Village ]

Bhojpur Solo Trek, Days 7-15Dalgaun – Kot Village

The main reason for this trip is to visit my Nepali family in Kot, a small village across the Pikhuwa Khola (river) from Bhojpur Bazaar. Thus far I’ve spent over 3 months living in Kot with the Shrestha family, but my previous visit was almost 2 years ago, in March 2014; a lot can happen in two years. And it has. Deaths. Marriages. Comings-of-Age. New roads and plans for a hospital to replace our old Health Post.

The shocking part, to me, is that I’ve been coming here long enough to see these things with my own eyes; to have a first-person sense of the village’s evolution. And, for the first time, my integration into village life was greatly accelerated by newfound Nepali language skills.

Kot continues to blow my mind and to change my life. What a joy it is to be back.
