Bhojpur Solo I (Simle)

Bhojpur Trek, Days 1-2: Chatara – Barahachhetra – Simle

After taking the overnight bus from Pokhara to Dharan, I grabbed a local bus to Chatara, a small town on the Saptakoshi river, and started walking. Adventure ensued.

I didn’t see another foreigner (or local tourist, for that matter) for the next 19 days.

Exhilarating doesn’t even begin to cover it. This was, for me, a major step forward–a leap of faith enabled by my greatly improved (if still terrible) Nepali language skills. I had a list of villages to string together, and good enough skill to ask for (and understand) directions.

Big boy pants, as my friend Dave would say. Not for the faint of heart. But it would turn out to be yet another in the long line of Most Memorable Experiences that Bhojpur and Nepal have offered me.
